Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis Disagrees With Joshua: Fighting in Overseas a Must!

Lennox Lewis has told Anthony Joshua to rediscover his ambition to fight in Las Vegas after he insisted it had no longer become necessary for a fighter to prove himself there. The IBF heavyweight champion on Saturday bids to win the WBA title last held by Tyson Fury when he meets Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium in front of a British post-war record fight crowd of 90,000.

"For him to say that he just wants to stay in one place, you can't be the champion of the world - champion of the world - and want to box in one place. You're the champion of the world, my brother."

Great words from a HW legend.

I don't knock Joshua for how he feels. Eventually he'll face a purse bid, and when he does, I hope his promoter has some dough to keep his fights in the UK, or he'll have a choice to make! Initially I wanted Wilder to go to the UK, now I'm not so sure!

Aj didn't say anything about staying in one place just that he doesn't feel the need to fight in vegas anymore. He also said he would be more than happy to fight in Africa as that's the continent his parents are from

Completely different situations, you fight where the money is, never see De La Hoya, Mayweather, Canelo, jetting off round the world. In his day the money fights were in America, had a string of Americans to fight, Joshua got 1. If the Wilder fight becomes financially rewarding to have in America, then yeah fight in America, but not just for the sake of it.
