Barrera in awe of Floyd

He was like this the whole fight, I think he was betting on the fight (like a lot of the people who sit in the front seats) or he had some association to Oscar at the time or maybe both, but that round was the beginning of the end after the fight has seemed to be very competitive, Floyd was having a tough time with Ricky and his punch volume decreased through the middle rounds, only to explode with that barrage in punches that surprised everyone including Barrera and mentally and physically took the fight out of Ricky, then in the 9th he moved and used his jab that was of course not expected by Ricky and that resulted in him getting popped by that jab at will and getting further embarrassed and broken down mentally, then in the 10th he went for broke and got stopped.
The variation between moving while mainly potshotting and standing while throwing fast powerful combos was one of Floyd's biggest strengths when he was younger, he'd get u used to a certain rythm only to completely change it and catch you completely off guard, he never fought in one rythm and that was his biggest strength. Only when he got older that he stopped varying the pace so much throughout his fights. -
It's odd. Barrera is usually hard to read emotionally. Him and Zaragoza have the best poker faces in boxing. I don't think he had money riding on the fight like the poster above suggests because you can see his jaw drop and his mouth gape in awe. I think it's just a case of a great boxer knowing he's witnessing something special.Comment
