He may be undefeated but If anyone watched the TUA fight, it was clear Tua won. All those HBO dudes had him winning to.

In a nutshell, I've honestly always thought of Ibeabuchi as a younger, faster, stronger Sonny Liston...no lie.Originally posted by Jim ElliottHow long could Ali withstand Ibeabuchi's punches? I think after about 10 rounds of punishment Ali would be stopped. Let's get some other opinions.
So, that being said, Ali would stick and move and counter..or, to put it in Ali-speak:
"Float Like a Butterfly,
Sting Like a Bee.
Ike can't hit
what his eyes can't see.
Ike calls himself the President;
But he's gonna need pepsodent
after I put a dent
in his pearly whites.
All you posters love to talk the talk.
Don't you know I walked the walk
Loong before most of you were born?
Why the scorn?
You can't believe I could beat your god?
I'd beat that boy 'cause I don't spare the rod.
Haven't you heard
Didn't you learn
My fists blaze with fire
and my opponents felt the burn
I done wrestled with aligators,
Tusseled with whales,
Handcuffed lightning,
and throwed thunder in jail.
I pounded a stone,
Beat up a brick.
Man, I'm so bad
I make medicene sick.
This might amaze all you Ike Groupies;
But I'd destroy Ibeabuchi.

I notice a lot of guys mentioning the Tua fight, but not the Chris Byrd fight. Byrd is one of the slickest heavyweights in years. Ike took on Tua when Tua was 27-0-0 [23ko's] Ike only had 16 fights against limited oposition up until that point. The reason he was hit so often was the fact the the fight was fought at close quarters for almost the entire fight. Ike showed tremendous heart and stamina and showed what a great chin and punch output he had in that fight.
Ike then took on Byrd [who would later beat Tua convincinly] and showed in that fight that he had matured and learned a few new skills. He showed patience, head movement, and good handspeed and accuracy. Ike Ibeabuchi didn't have enough fights for anyone to be able to make judgments on how well he would have fared against someone like Ali, but to write him off as a no skilled plodder, i think would be a gross gross underestimation of this guy, who had a ton of skills for a heavyweight, and who was improving. you don't beat a prime Chris Byrd without having skills IMO. All in all, he didn't have enough fights to be assessed properly, but i think he would have been a handful for anybody, including Ali.Last edited by paul750; 05-24-2006, 10:36 AM.Comment

I agree with you especially in the part you said:- All in all, he didn't have enough fights to be assessed properly, but i think he would have been a handful for anybody, including Ali. Yes he could have been a handful for Ali, but I personally get pissed off with these guys saying Ike would have beaten Ali. Especially people saying he'd have beaten him in 5! Ill say in Larry Merchant style Ike...... did'nt...... beat ...... enough....... top......fighters....... to...... be...... compared...... with...... I think Ali is one of maybe 5 heavyweights who could have beaten Ibeabuchi...that is, if Ike continued to develop the way he was.
Think of it this way, guys who continue to doubt Ibeabuchi. This kid traded full fledged power shots with David Tua in 1998, something no one had ever done before or has done since, and he WON the fight. Ike never backed down against Tua, who has a GRANITE chin and a vicious left hook.
The next year, Ike knocked out Chris Byrd in 5 rounds. It took Klitschko 7 rounds to finish off an older and much slower Byrd.
I find it very sad that a lot of people write Ibeabuchi off because of his crimes, but this guy would have crushed Mike Tyson, and you all talk him up like he's a ****ing legend. I think only a select few could have beaten Ike, and Ali is one of them.Comment
