What happened to beating people up?

When did a "schooling", become more significant than a good ole fashion beatdown?

Idk about u all but i consider boxing "a fight", so when i see 2 fighters after 10 or 12rds look unscathed after, what lesson was taught?

    Thoughts?

Nothing has changed, a stoppage win is usually rated higher than a points victory.

And nowadays any win that goes to the cards can be called a "robbery"

a stoppage win erases all doubt

Idk about that man. Im a big Ward fan but u will never hear me say he schooled Kov BUT its what im hearing.

Also Lomancheko beats the **** out of his opponent and then hes discredited?

Grant it Loma has gotten some overhype and ward has taken slack but the perception is the same.

          This.

A beatdown still beats a schooling. Nothing changed.

Because its harder to do to the top guys, its one thing to over power a guy and one punch can do it, but at top level to out think, out finesse, out move, out land and to beat the opponent by controlling him is a schooling, he was taken to the school of boxing.

A beat down is more of a power game mixed with skills, a schooling is all skills.

Boxing is really just a two way street, if you have power you don't need the skill level to succeed, if you have little power you need more skills, its like the scales of justice put power on one side skills on the other.

idiots were arguing in the other thread that Mayweather playing tag with Marquez is a more dominant victory vs GGG breaking Brook's skull.

                  That skill beats rock-em-sock-em robots.

That Magomed Abdusalamov, Gerald McClellan, Michael Watson, Nick Blackwell and Kim Duk-koo must not keep happening.

Even Manny "Used To Stop Em" Pacquiao is on board, doing juuuuuuuuust enough to win rounds on points over 12.

First of all I say Ward lost the fight in my eyes, but if you want to go by the books, Lomachenko beat a bum. Ward beat the #2 guy. There's a HUGE difference and you cannot compare the two.

This was a phrase coined by Mayweather Sr. when his son couldn't hurt or KO elite level fighters who were past their prime and C-level fighters who were KO'd by lesser opponents. It's a phrase commonly used by lackluster fighters who are boring and would rather run and clinch there way to a victory than thoroughly dominate an opponent.
