Comments Thread For: Monaghan Moves Past Stevenson, Wants Joe Smith Grudge Fight

Seanie Monaghan doesn't need an excuse or a fight to go to the gym and spar. "I'm dedicated to my craft and I'm always working on things," the unbeaten light heavyweight contender said. "In boxing, you always try to improve, and I actually enjoy sparring and working on what needs to be worked on. I don't need a fight to go in there and train hard."

I've watched him a few times and seen him live before as well (I believe at a Golovkin fight in 2013 at the msg theater). He has a hard nosed aggressive style and works his ass off in the ring. At the club level he is the man and he brings a lot of fans with him from his town. At the elite level he might not be a top 10 guy at light heavyweight. His power is only solid. At the level he wants to be at, he would have to have greater power with his style.

I'm all for the Joe Smith fight. That would be fun. If HBO can't afford this fight, they can't afford ****. Both guys would probably be happy with low 6 figures.

Sounds like an exciting fighter and I'm glad they're not on that diva status.

So the fight that was obvious immediately after Hopkins was knocked out of the ring will finally possibly happen after 3 months of Stevenson screwing around with both sides.

Good! This is the fight I've wanted. We need more bad blood, regional rivalries here in the US like they have in the UK. This would be a huge fight in NYC or Long Island. Get it done!!!
