Comments Thread For: Frank Warren on The Idea of Having Instant Replay in Boxing

LIAM SMITH and Liam Williams delivered a cracker in the ring last week even if it ended prematurely. The pair clashed heads in the ninth, opening up a horror wound for Williams on the eyelid which forced his corner to call it off. It was missed by the referee after a bloodied Smith had battled through from round three with a cut of his own.

What's controversial about it? His corner pulled him out. Makes no difference how it happened. It only matters when the referee or doctor stops a fight.

if he couldnt continue because of a headbutt, it wouldnt be a TKO.. the fight wouldve went to the cards

the missed call robbed him of a chance to win the fight

I think the headbutt opened up a way worse cut on Williams than Smith had. Would've been very dangerous for the fight to keep going on but it wasn't by a punch so it should've gone to the cards.

It only goes to the cards if the referee or doctor stops the fight. Williams corner stopped the fight so it's TKO. Why aren't people getting this?

Absolutely boxing should use instant replay.

Its dumb this is even a discussion. In fact its a lil insane we people of the present, in many lanes of our life, seem to be stuck with old rules & laws for the main reason of that they are old rules & laws more than they still make sense today.

Things everywhere should be updated & improved upon as often as reasonably possible.

Because if it continued Williams could've been scarred for life from an illegal tactic. Quit looking at a rulebook like it's the only approach to something.
