Comments Thread For: Chocolatito, Sor Rungvisai at Odds Over The Rematch Date

World Boxing Council super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai is not looking to face Romanian 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez until September. The WBC recently ordered the two boxers to face each other in a mandatory rematch, but Rungvisai wants to make an optional defense in his home country of Thailand and for this reason his team asked that the fight with Chocolatito be carried out in September.

If the WBC ordered the rematch then Sor Rungvisai shouldn't be able to have an optional defense.

I can understand Sor wanting to to some kind of hometown defense but, I'm also tired of people winning titles and then taking a tune-up (sitting on the belt like an egg as I call it).
Tough call. If they ordered an immediate, then he shouldn't be able to do this optional.

Roman Gonzalez staying dedicated to his craft, never takes time off even after suffering injury : from March to July is five months apart right back into another war I'm sure.

Rungvisai might still be feeling the savage beating 'Chocolatito' laid on him breaking a compubox record at jr. bantamweight as such he wants more time to heal.........OH! before you guys think I'm hyping Gonzalez this fight is leading FOTY candidate and the rematch is going to be incredible...but like I said RG don't play games.

I would make him wait too. They should've let Cuadras fight him and make Gonzalez fight Estrada for the eliminator. Gonzalez doesn't want to give Cuadras or Estrada a rematch. Put him in postition where he can't avoid it

I don't see why the rematch can't be pushed off a month or two to September. The guy earned the belt. Gonzalez can wait 4-6 extra weeks.

Thats funny, if there's is anyone that don't deserve a shot at Rungvisai its Cuadras considering how he fought about six times when Rungvisai was his mandatory but now he wants first dibs, and I have not even begun to talk about his questionable 'win' in the eliminator over Carmona on the undercard of GGG-Jacobs that many say he should of lost.

Talking about Estrada? this guy is a flee 'Chocolatito' already beat him and really he has no valid stake when he avoided fighting Ioka for the lineal at flyweight and then fighting two bums at 115, one was really a flyweight and just got KO about three months prior to their encounter and the other guy was not even top 20 to capture a 'silver' title to land him here.
