Multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com that heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz has suffered a thumb injury that has forced him to pull out of an April 22 fight against Derric Rossy. The former interim WBA heavyweight champion from Cuba was supposed to box Rossy in a 10-rounder on the Shawn Porter-Andre Berto undercard a week from Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Ortiz-Rossy fight was to be televised on SHO Extreme before the Showtime Championship Boxing doubleheader began at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT.

Surprised no other conversation about this. Not that this is the most exciting fight but we've gone from such excitement over the HW division to disappointment after disappointment.
Fury looks to be done. Wlad is on the cusp of retirement, win or lose. Povetkin and Browne are both drug cheats. Haye is pretty much done. If Ortiz is injured, that is just another strike against an aging fighter. Damn...

The new, exciting era in HW began when Fury beat boring Wlad, according to some people on here...

Literally no good fight happened in that time frame, well until April 29 when the old boring champ will be fighting AJ lol.

Good. That was a bs fight anyway. I think this guy is overhyped as f#ck, but clearly he shouldn't be fighting a guy like Rossy at this point in his career. Throw him in with a respectable, top 20ish guy at least. Throw him in with Mansour, Breazeale or Washington who are all better choices then a career journeyman & are all with Haymon/PBC.
