So you're saying NBC is still interested?

But with Spike being rebranded and shifting focus, boxing isn't going to be a good fit for that network after the overhaul.

Yes. ESPN is cutting costs and doesn't want to spend any money on boxing. PBC isn't willing to give their content away anymore, so ESPN2 cut a deal with a different entity that was willing to give their content away for free (Golden Boy).

So PBC is in a better position than any other US boxing entity. Everybody else is fighting for HBO scraps.
CBS interest is only there due to Showtime. We'd end up with the same distribution as before (most fights go to Showtime) except CBS would probably agree to air 4-6 fights per year in primetime.

FOX would probably become more interested if UFC leaves for a mega-deal with ESPN at the end of their contract as has been rumored.

the chairman/president/CEO of CBS corporation is a HYUUUUGE boxing fan. so no, the interest isn't only there due to showtime. boxing just did over 5 million viewers on CBS. it's a perfect storm for haymon. not only is boxing one of the best ways for showtime to gain ground on HBO, but the head honcho of the entire CBS corporation loves boxing.

4-6 fights per year on CBS would be an incredible thing for the sport and i'm not suggesting anything beyond that. haymon is sitting pretty at 4-6 CBS dates plus full showtime commitment. no way for HBO to compete with haymon's ability to build stars when he can get millions of eyeballs via CBS that HBO fighters can't get.

i agree. but whether fox keeps UFC or not, PBC has done well on FS1 and the experiments on FOX network have done well. but yes, if UFC leaves, that frees up some major money for boxing.

Soooo.... whats in the future for pbc? I just checked and in the first half of 2017 PBC will only have one CBS, FOX and SPIKE broadcast each. Smaller shows on FS1 and BOUNCE and the majority and important fights on SHOWTIME.

Does he have enough outlets to show his whole rooster? Is anything in the works or does boxing already resort back to be on premium cable network?

Haymon probably can't believe his luck. If boxing experiences a Joshua/HW led boom, it will bring the price of PBC way up.

Well what do you know? My constant assurances that PBC would get high 8 figures or low 9 figures annually for their TV rights ended up being 100% correct.

Don't you think you should apologize for mocking me repeatedly when it turns out i was right all along?

Pbc has proven their concept. Which is why showtime is spending more and more on boxing. They know haymon has options.

But if fox & cbs can share the nfl, there's no reason they can't share boxing. Hbo & showtime shared boxing for years, but with no cooperation, severely hampering the sport.

As hbo gets pushed out of the business, if cbs/showtime & fox/fs1 end up with most (all?) of the major us boxing, since it's all tied through haymon, the big fights will always be able to be made.
