Kovalev won the first fight and got robbed. The handwriting is on the wall. The boxing power brokers want Ward as champion and no matter how the fight goes Kovalev will need a knockout to win. Ward is a protected fighter, he's allowed to hold at will and will do it again in this fight while the referee will blindly look on. Any round that Ward is not knocked down in or completely pummeled he will win and at the end of 12 rounds Ward will win a decision no matter how bad a beating he takes. Most fans have short memories and while their will be outrage right after the fight a few months down the line he'll be on Ring magazines cover and still be P4P in their rankings. A good reason not to buy that rag.
Yep. Ward is definitely the 'golden bwaaay who can do no wrong' in the power brokers eyes of this sport.
We already know that Kovalev can hurt Ward with a jab & drop him with a right, early. He has made a reputation for being a "Krusher". He will have to be that in spades & utterly destroy Ward this time. If he lets Andre back into the fight, he loses.
Exactly. And I doubt Kovalev lets Ward dictate at all. He'll be better prepared.
Kovalev fought well but gassed out, it's pretty much that simple and resorted to holding Ward all night. Kovalev is admitting he gassed out which he stated that he over trained for the reason.
