I agree. When I hear Ward fans saying Kovalev was the one holding, I have to laugh because all you have to do is watch a Ward fight to see that's how he fights.
Ward's game has been to hold, hit, make it ugly and wear the other fighter.

If you don't see that the holding, wrestling style of fighting has been Ward's style, what can I say? Both guys used illegal tactics but that's Andre's game, not Kovalev's. The Russian thought he could beat Andre at his own game but the judges thought different.

If a fighter is coming in low and leading with his head there's a good chance he'll find himself in a headlock. The main thing is there are rules in boxing and than there's what the ref allows.
Most fighter's will do what the ref will let them get away with, including Kovalev and Ward.
Complaining about the Russian's headlocks or the American's wrestling is useless, both are strategies to win the fight.
