If you're an SOG fan I understand wanting to give SOG credit for that, but rewatch the fight. Round 1 was all jabs, no body work. Round 2 Ward got dropped and didn't land anything all round. Round 3 Kovalev was already tiring by himself and didn't do ****, but neither did Ward. Ward maybe edged the round if you're generous, but neither did any damage. Round 4 Kovalev came back and won the round clean, Ward didn't do anything.

So which round exactly of the first four did Ward do amazing body work to slow Kovalev by round 5? Honestly? Which of the first two rounds did Ward do so much damage that Kovalev took his foot off the gas even in round 3?

The truth is Ward was not the principle force that tired Kovalev out. Kovalev tired out all by himself, at least initially. Ward surely capitalized once that happened and landed body shots that would tire him more later, but the initial tiring out? That was all Kovalev. The question is why? I have no idea. He also tired out against Chilemba in Russia. Both times he has had different excuses, but both times it had little to do with his opponent, and everything to do with him.

Either he will figure it out and fix it before the rematch, and likely win, or he won't fix it, and will likely lose, and lose legitimately this time.
Accurate assessment. The Ward huggers saying body work is an insult to actual body punchers. Ward really did nothing and you are right that Kov tired himself out. I truly think it was like he said and they OVERRATED Ward and overtrained. I see Ward as a marginal fighter that has a great system of illegal tactics in play to give him an edge every fight. Guy has no power and is pretty slow.

Ward didnt fight thats the problem. He was diving at kov all night after the 4th round and not actually fighting but holding. It was a disgrace to watch and for Ward to be the face of usa boxing truly is pathetic. Maybe in the ****** thats how you people fight, but boxing isnt what Ward does.

The bodywork didn't do much of anything to Kovalev. Ward just doesn't hit hard enough and didn't land enough of them, especially good bodyshots, those came later in the fight, when Kovalev was tired enough that Ward could muscle out space for some better bodyshots. What tired Kovalev was wrestling with Ward. Kovalev didn't tire by himself, he would have, but it was accelerated because of the wrestling.

Kovalev gets tired because he's not on juice. He's 34 year's old and natural.

Ward is one of the most overrated fighters today and also one of the most pathetic as far as getting away with the illegal tactics in the ring. He has nothing as a fighter and Kov going to carry on the trend of Eastern fighters dominating the afro american fighters.

Ward is way to weak and cowardly to do anything of the sort.

Thats true. Ward made sure to stall the fight as long as possible to get in that PED work and flush out his system.

I'm not a fan of neither Kovalev or Ward. But I dislike only one of them, the one with diva attitude.
