Comments Thread For: Vasyl Lomachenko's Continues Historically Unprecedented Run

By Corey Erdman - When you watch Vasyl Lomachenko fight, there's a whole lot to marvel at. There's his magnificent footwork, which makes it seem as though he's floating in the ring. There's his astute defense-not the flashy kind that makes you miss by a mile like a Whitaker or a Toney would have done-but just enough movement for him to get hit less often than any other high level fighter in the sport. And then there's the blinding handspeed, which materializes not just an overwhelming swarm, but also as concussive blows with every shot.

Lomachenko will probably never move up to Welterweight (maybe just for one huge payday against Crawford in 4-5 years) but he can clean out 135 & 140 and that would be already a big statement.

They say he's the greatest amateur of all time. Greater than Mark Breland ?

Orlando Salido. Official Loss. Gotta avenge that.

WBO belts for his multi division belts for hype... the World Bob(Arum)Organization. Ever wonder why Top Rank fighters always get that belt. It's like the lowest major belt.

He's good but slow the hype train. Let him build a resume that warrants p4p#1. Wins over Mikey Garcia, Gamboa, Crawford, Linares, Salido rematch, etc... would go a long way. If he's gonna have the atg hype lets see him at welterweight dominating at 38 years old with 4 Lineal straps in multiple divisions.

Yes. He won a second Olympic gold, a second World Championship and about 280 more fights as an amateur. So yes, he is greater.

This logic is bad for the sport.

It's a bit like the lineal championship concept.

Like bad therapists telling their patients to talk through stuff with their parents before their parents die, otherwise you'll carry the burden for the rest of your life - can't argue with the dead.

                Rubbish.

Manny Paquiao was TKOd in 1999. How come he's not facing demands to go back to Thailand and find whichever bar his now retired opponent is spending his days in to challenge him to a bar brawl?

Loma lost a split decision in his second pro fight, going on strong at the end of the fight. General consensus is he is light years ahead of Salido now. Salido obviously either wants to get a retirement fund in exchange for the fight or keep the memory of being the only man who managed to defeat Loma as a professional. This fight would prove nothing except satisfy a few boxing purists. People who hate on Loma will just start posting that Salido was past it and the win means nothing - should have happened immediately after the loss.

If Salido is making things difficult, best to look forward, not back.

He really is unbelievable. Like watching a prime RJJ seeing decent fighters so completely outclassed physically and mentally.

Need to see those mega fights though. Not because im waiting to see him exposed or anything, just because i want to see that talent tested to its limits before he starts to age.
