Has GGG passed the eye test compared to fighters from the past?

From a visual standpoint GGGs boxing just isnt that good
Kinda slow, uncoordinated, poor defence where he uses his face, wild swings, bad footwork, crouches like an 80 year old man. Id say his style is very ugly, kinda like a bar brawl type of style

He has a slightly above average jab but even that looks uncoordinated and amateurish at times.

I bet even a lightweight Floyd Mayweather could just box circles around this guy, GGG wouldnt lay a glove. Manny Pacquiao in his prime would have DeLaHoya'd GGG

Shame he constantly ducks Canelo because somehow 15m is just not good enough. Now hes gonna go SMW and fight guys like Arthur Abraham and Felix Sturm, and continue to fool fans with his primitive style

His defense is horrible and his skills are only average, but his power is the equalizer

LOL. GGG's defense is not average. Neither is his footwork. Obviously his power is solid. You guys are all blind.

Watch Lee Wylie's video on him. He does some very smart things in there. He wouldn't have gotten this far if he hadn't. He just stepped up and had a close fight. Hell, none of his fights were close before that. He looked sloppy against Brook by trying to force the KO too much. He didn't want a ww going the distance with him with is understandable. If he'd used smart defense and Brook had gone the distance, the haters on here would never let up on that one, but they have to find something. GGG passes the eye test and is very exceptional.

Good but not great fighter. Heavily cherry picked resume, his team deserves all the credit for the hype they've built around him.

Nope. Nice trolling attempt though. GGG has the best jab in the game period.

^^^-This! I watched prime Roy as a kid... GGG is nothing special. Bernard would've mugged and potshotted an easy UD over GGG. The HBO Commentary Hype train brainwashed a lot of GGG's fanboys.

Fans who fancy flashy movements and combinations will continue to say he's nothing special.
Fans who fancy pro boxing fundamentals of elite level will continue to say he's very special.

Not many fans understand that GGG developed his style with his head in the center to keep his balance in order to shoot from any place anytime and sit down on his punches. Downsides of his style - he can parry and block punches and be the first with his jab but he can't evade getting hit completely, especially with slaps (lol). Imagine Floyd hurting an opponent while heavily using his upper body movement, it rarely happens. GGG simply knows his strengths and limitations well and has adopted a suitable style and developed it to an elite level.

It depends on who's eyes he has to past the test for. Your eyes are blinded with hate for GGG. All the boxing places such as Ring, HBO, ESPN, Boxrec and many more all rate him as one of the 5 best PFP boxers in the world. Clearly he passed their eye test. But what do they know compared to you. If GGG has an average jab then just about every other boxer in the world must have a very poor left jab.
