Man I was looking at that last round and begging for it to end so Hunter would not be hurt bad. Hunter has heart of a champ!! And after a year off showed that you go out on your shield if you have to, unlike Nicholas Walters did after a long layoff and just quit. I hope they encourage Hunter cause he left everything in the ring!! Gave it his all. Yeah, Usyk is one hell of a fighter! Very smart. His only downfall is a slow start and if he ever gets too far behind and cant catch up, it may haunt him that he doesnt start early.

Anybody think Hunter, after a 1 year layoff, is better fighter than the likes of Kovalev, Beterbiev, Stevenson etc?

The right fight at the right time for Usyk against a tough opponent who went the distance with him. Good preparation for a future Unification against Briedis.

Usyk showed the grit of a champion but some flaws were evident in his style tonight

Hunter's likely going to take a bit of time off, but he should be back out sooner than expected.

Only real issue now is that there seems to be a bit of a logjam emerging at cruiserweight; Ledbedev is holding his belt hostage in Russia, Andrew Tabiti (200lb LV gym mate of Michael Hunter) is already seemingly on track for his own title shot at the Shumenov-Dorticos winner, and Grigory Drozd is the first in line for new WBC champ Breidis (Bellew is likely looking to cash out on his next 3-4 fights before hanging the gloves up), and the IBF has the process for determining the next challenger.

With Glowacki, Steve Cunningham, Marco Huck, BJ Flores, prospects like Keith Tapia, and the rest of the old warhorses at the weight, string together 2-3 wins and he's likely positioned for another shot soon enough.
