Exactly, Teddy Atlas may exaggerate slightly about the mental aspect of the game, but if you ever doubt how important it is look at Golota. He had all the physical tools to be Heavyweight champ, but his weak psyche kept him from it.

Atlas does not exaggerate the mental aspect of the game. It really is that important. A boxer's Mentality is what most sets fighters apart from other athlete. The best boxer around (Mayweather) is not even close to the best athlete in the world but you put those other athletes in the ring with even an absolute ****ty clubfighter, they will get their teeth knocked out after pissing their pants in fear.

Remember Joe Frazier almost drowning and coming in last in a weightlifting event during that old show from the 70's that pitted top athletes together? Boxers are not even close to the most athletic people in the world. It's skill, but mostly the right mentality that allows a fighter to stick with his training in spite of the fear, hard work, and pain it takes to learn that skill, that sets fighters apart from non-combat athletes.

Mentality is almost everything in boxing.

GREATEST FIRST ROUND BEING KNOCKED OUT ARTIST AROUND! I LOVED WATCHING HIS FIGHTS WITH THE WHOLE 50 SECONDS OF ACTION, SOME OF THE BEST BOXING I HAVE SEEN IN AGES WAS WATCHING HIM.

I agree it's extremley important, just not convinced about the 90% part Speed, power, technical skills, the ability to take a punch, and stamina play a fairly large role too.

Until he is able to do these things, he will always be there for the right hand and left hooks of fighter who are able to adapt and adjust in the ring, during the rounds....just my opinion....and I like Andrew...I wish he was the fighter above I described...but he's not and dont think he has the ability to do so....
Ha ha,yeah threw away every big fight he could have won.

He was a great technical boxer, but nowhere close to all time great.

All time great for Poland yes....

He did not have mind to be a champion.

Boxing is better off without people like Golota
