Cherry may have just sneaked his way into another title shot. Wouldn't be shocked if they put him up against Gervonta Davis if he wins his next fight. Big set back for Douglas who appeared to pull off an impressive win. Not sure where he goes now, maybe a 2nd fight with De Alba after he won tonight? A win would have put him in a really good position, now he's kind of in no man's land after back to back losses. Shame, he was the better guy tonight imo. Best case scenario for him might be a rematch with Cherry

Omar Douglas boxed well Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough to spare him a second straight loss. Junior lightweight contender Edner Cherry defeated Douglas by unanimous decision in their 10-round fight Tuesday night in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. All three judges Ron McNair (96-94), Kevin Morgan (98-92) and Steve Weisfeld (96-94) scored the fight for Cherry.

Jarrett hurd is a terrible judge but his insight was dead on. The way he views fights may be his downfall in his actual fights however. Activity counts, people like 5 punch combinations even if only 1 lands. The reality of the fight game is that it has evolved from the 80s scoring, rounds are judged without much attention paid to defense and more attributed to offense, like the NFL.

Of course robberies in boxing is nothing new, but this just adds salt to the wounds. Douglas won by 2-3 rounds in my book.

scored a draw....and i bet on douglas. But I gave a lot of the mid/late rounds to cherry cause douglas wasn't doing enough and was walking away when I thought he needed a higher tempo. Cherry a master of holding though and physically hard to fight out of a clinch or push around. Douglas needed more counters especially right hands but he is a bit too upright, and did a bit of an anthony crolla in not pushing the action just following his man.

The fight was close maybe Douglas one but wouldn't only one or two camera angles difficult to tell no one sits in the judges seats but Cherry never quit so give him his due... he got screwed his last title shot so let's hope he gets another one he's a warrior.. hopefully Dan Birmingham will show him how to keep that right hand up...
