Interesting to see how it does. I doubt he has the fanbase yet in Ireland that will travel for every fight. Plus its not got the New York on St Paddys day angle.

Will Irish Americans in Chicago turn out in numbers?

I think they should bring him to Ireland for a few fights a year. Not just to build his fanbase there, but also makes him more 'authentic' to the Irish Americans.

More on the card, from Rafael...

2016 Irish Olympic star Michael Conlan (1-0, 1 KO) will headline Top Rank's UniMas-televised card from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on May 26, Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN on Wednesday. He'll face an opponent to be named in a six-round junior featherweight fight two months after he made a smashing pro debut, scoring a third-round KO victory over Tim Ibarra before a sold-out crowd at New York's Theater at Madison Square Garden on March 17 (St. Patrick's Day). Also on the May 26 will be welterweights Alex Saucedo (24-0, 15 KOs), of Oklahoma City, and Denver's Mike Alvarado (36-4, 24 KOs), a former junior welterweight world titleholder, in scheduled eight-round fights against opponents to be determined.

Because America is a bigger market and they're trying to build an American fan base for him.
