Comments Thread For: Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares Rematch Ordered By The WBA

The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championship Committee has ordered a rematch between Mexican featherweight rivals Leo Santa Cruz (33-1-1, 18 KOs) and Abner Mares (30-2-1, 15 KOs). Santa Cruz holds the "super" title at 126-pounds, while Mares is the "regular" champion. They were given a 30 day period to reach an agreement. And should they not reach an agreement, the WBA will summon them to take part in a purse bid.

YES!! I loved the first one. Remember when Leo was a running joke and people would ask what cab driver he was fighting next? He went from that to Mares, Frampton, Frampton, Mares. Good on him for stepping up.

not high on him fighting mares again. He's been on a decline since he got ko'd. Frampton ok, but now Leo is going back on his word to grant him the rubber match. Still waiting on him to acknowledge that rigo exists too. He avoided that fight big time.

You must not be aware of Mares' last fight. He came back in a big way.

Frampton rubber match needs to marinate, IMO. 2 immediate rematches is too much when the first 2 weren't really controversial.

Also, if Rigo wants it he can go up and get it. Leo just got his belt back and is huge for the weight class. No reason for him to go down for Rigo.

I agree about the third fight with Frampton, too soon,if this fight is ordered so he will have to face abner which is also a good money fight, not bad, plus maybe Frampton can win a belt and it would be better that way,so they can unify the belts, hopefully framton can fight a champion in his next fight,he deserves it
