Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder: A Tale of Two Fanbases

By Tris Dixon - IT hasn’t always been about the dance partners in the heavyweight division. Remember when Muhammad Ali took on comparative non-en******? Do you recall Larry Holmes cutting a swathe through Curly, Larry and Moe? And what about Mike Tyson bulldozing a set of listless contenders and f...

I do find it a little crazy that Deontay Wilder has been a champ for 2 years and is basically still fighting at holiday inn conference rooms and that Anthony Joshua is a huge part of selling out a 90,000 person soccer stadium with only 18 or 19 fights. I do respect that Wilder likes to honor his hometown, though. He just needs bigger and better fights. As an American, you'd like to see a relevant heavyweight champ that has respect.

      Wilder all hype

That is because Wilder is protected to the 10th degree. He is the PBC great black heavyweight hope. A con job. A fraud. A massive play on reality. Another Amero-bum.

In all honesty BOTH guys are hype jobs ATM.

Joshua is the Olympic hero and has only beaten B level guys at best.

Wilder is just terrible, I mean awful and he knows he is holding the belt hostage.

They should fight each other asap.

            You cant compare the two.

Joshua was a elite class amateur, deontay wasnt.

Joshua has been pro 4 years.

            Deontay 8

Joshua is fighting wladamir klitschko next

Wilder will probably fight dave allen next

It may sound harsh, but he will get a ringside seat to see what it’s like to be at a real heavyweight title fight

harsh!!!, that was below the belt

The title of this thread is insulting : Deontay Wilder is THE HW champion, his name should be first! look at the damn control panel icon....who do you see up there?! its not that euro-bot that for sure! its the man with the most title defenses, longest reigning HW champion! I mean Deontay actually beat a top five HW for his title ; whats Joshua done?! these guys treat him like he beat a Prime Wladimir and the old fart can chin him if David Price did!!! COME ON!!!

One thing that no one can accuse Joshua of its failing to look after his brand. He never turns down interviews. Always says the right things. Gets his pictures in the right places. Looks after his sponsors (pretty sure when he dies he will be buried in under armour gear with Beats by dre around his neck).

Eddie Hearn has even said the guy is learning spanish to endear himself to the main boxing fan demographic in America.

The guy is a marketing machine.

Lets just hope he can back it all up in the ring wear it counts

Winning gold in the London Olympics was obviously massive for him though and made a huge difference to his starting point as a pro.

Every sports fan in the country knew who he was when he turned over.

Wilder on the other had to build himself up for the most part as his bronze barely caused a ripple in a country like the US where there are medals pouring in every day.
