The crowd was chanting to let the fight continue. The Spanish announcers were even saying "Noooo! Noooo!" and got on the ref's case for injecting himself into the outcome.

The ref didn't inject himself,,, the guy turned his back and quit.. when a fighter quits, the fight is over. It doesn't matter what the crowd or announcers think.. if a corner threw in the white towel, the ref isn't going to pick it up and throwing it back and let the fight continue, same thing here.

It didn't look like he quit to me. He was stumbling from the blows but once he regained some composure he seemed ready to get back into it.

I don't see him asking the ref to stop it.
