Comments Thread For: Arum: 118-110 Score for Leonard-Hagler 'About Worst I've Seen'

Bob Arum couldn't believe what he heard when the scores were read the night of April 6, 1987. It was as if one of the judges, Mexico's Jose Juan "Jo Jo" Guerra, couldn't see what was happening right in front of him. Thirty years later, there still are great debates about whether "Sugar" Ray Leonard or Marvin Hagler won their middleweight title fight at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Classic fight. That judge was tripping, 118-110.....SMH......I'm glad they banned him from judging high profile fights after turning in that scorecard. Sounds like some bogus Canelo scorecards of today. They should ban a few other judges of today too with their crooked scorecards.

I thought Hagler won. SRL did a 10 second flurry at the end of each round and had the crowd cheering.

SRL won a close decision imo. I'll never understand why Hagler boxed orthodox for the first part of the fight. When he was in southpaw, he won rounds easily.

But there should've been an immediate rematch.

I felt Ray didn't do enough to win. The flurries at the end of the rounds, as he said, "worked like a charm" but he meant to the extent of influencing the judges, not in boxing strategy to beat Hagler.

Most def 10-2 Leonard is messed up. Crazy bad.

Leonard won a very close U.D. can't believe Arum is joking about that judge still being around when he's dam near 90 himself. both have some serious alternators.

It probably was the worst scorecard in terms of high profile fights
