I think he still has what it takes skill wise but he has gotten noticeably slower and his reflexes have fallen. Now he has to depend on his heart and chin and it is obvious that he has neither. He should have forced himself to be more versatile in his youth instead of just relying on his speed and reflexes.
no he doesn't, he's 37 years old and getting even older by the day. in that third tarver bout you could see his reflexes were gone. when roy was in his prime he would duck out of the way when someone feinted with the jab, in the third tarver bout he didn't duck away from the jab until tarver acually started pulling it back. his confidence is severly diminished along with his ability to put together his once devestating combos, his workrate is slower and he can't take a punch that well. it's over for roy, i wish he retired after the ruiz fight or the first tarver bout.
Tarver is a good fighter Roy said it himself that Tarver would have gave him problems in his prime but if he fought any of the other top LHW I think he could win.
The reason why his defense was soo great back then was mostly because his reflexes were soo quick, now at 38 his reflexes are a lot slower and we all know what happens when he gets caught flush these days... Bottom line rjj is getting too old.
I would like to see him fight Clinton Woods because Roy easily dismantled him when they fought back in 2002. It would allow us to see how far he has fallen off.
why does roy try now to prove he has balls to go in the ring with anybody, besides having a shaky chin? the man had a great career and needs to retire before he gets seriously hurt, or i should say/add permanment hurt
