Haha, you crack me up Thraxox. Pure disbelief and failure to understand picking china-chinned Amir Khan as a Middleweight opponent, no matter how hard you try. I feel the same way.

It is not just about the weight..it is the fact Brook's competition to that point was horrible and Khan has shown to be sloppy and vulnerable against lesser fighters...

I don't think his concern for Golovkin has been or will ever be as heightened as the internet consensus has come to think.

Golovkin-Lemieux, a fight that went on within a month of Alvarez's own fight, did something like 100k PPV buys (I seriously doubt that the number got anywhere near 150k PPV buys, and 100k PPV buys seems low).

Folks will likely argue the point, but Alvarez-Khan was a world's more marketable fight to make than Alvarez-Golovkin, and it wasn't really all that close.

Alvarez went for the biggest fight financially, and I can't knock him for it

Because he was a decent draw (although how popular he is seems to always be debated)...

But more importantly he was a great opportunity for a highlight reel KO for Canelo (they were right about that one for sure).

I think it was because he is first and foremost a prize fighter and the prize is money. It's hard for Canelo to resist getting an almost sure thing KO win over Khan and getting paid much more than he would have been paid for knocking out any other welterweight. Brook is fearless and would fight Canelo and get KOed but he wouldn't make Canelo nearly as much money. No way in hell would cherry picking Angel Garcia allow his son to get crushed by Canelo. Most top welterweights aren't going to fight Canelo even though he pays good. Losing by KO isn't worth a good pay day for a champion level welterweight. Maybe I have Canelo overrated but I believe he would KO all active welterweights. You need to be a damn good middleweight to have a chance to beat Canelo. If you think Canelo cherry picked Khan then what about champion Lara's last defense of his title? I think he was a 100 to 1 betting favorite to win. How about Crawford's last defense of his title? Crawford was a 25 to 1 betting favorite. Why single out Canelo when so many other champions cherry pick from time to time?
