Perfect 0 against more paper champs w/ 4 lineals (best win is past prime Pac). Boxing golden spoon from childhood
vs
Some defeats over over a wider range of weight-classes. More ATG's/HOF wins including 2 in their prime. Rags to riches story.
I'll give you that most people think FLoyd is the better boxer, however, his aversion to risk and "gotta have every advantage before we fight" attitude will always be a detriment when considering his ATG greatness.Comment

Majority???Maybe in certain circles but over-all they're both seen pretty equal so its more of a preference thing.

Due to boxing not having any definitive statistics to separate fighters, it's all opinionated. You can have SRL above Duran if you want, someone will disagree but it doesn't matter, it's all opinion based unlike baseball, basketball, football which is numbers based.
What I mean is for example SRL got titles in 4 weight classes in 36 fights, Duran got titles in 4 weight classes in 91 fights, so while some may say "Well Duran is better because he fought more, had longevity" but you can counter that and say "Well, SRL did the same thing Duran did in 3x less fights". This, while i'm not saying makes SRL greater, would've been a point to make in any other sport except boxing.
Another thing is Leonard is 11-2-1 in world title fights, Duran was 16-6 in world title fights..this means Duran was in title fights in 18.5% of his career 119 bouts while SRL was in title fights in 35% of his career 40 bouts. So SRL did more with his short career. So while some may say "Duran had more fights, longevity" you can say SRL was in more championship fights in relation to his total amount of fights than Duran did.
Lineal titles count too. Duran had a long run as lineal champ at 135, and also won the lineal title at 147. SRL won lineal titles in 3 of the 4 weight classes he won titles in. There's a feat where SRL one upped Duran in, in his short career.
Basically, idc if you have either fighter over the other, because it's opinion based anyway. If you feel Duran's 135 run helps him trump SRL, cool. But if it was numbers and statistics based, SRL has a claim to be over Duran. SRL did a lot in his short career.
Just playing devil's advocate here, idc who's over who tbh...I have no ATG list.Comment

He won but he just barely won, and that was when Leonard chose to fight Duran at his own game. Repeat that - He lost a close decision victory trying to box Duran with pretty much Duran's own style. When Leonard used his own style of footwork and angles in the rematches, he schooled him both times.Comment
