Sad, but it's true. We make excuses like all our best athletes play in the MLB, NBA, or NFL which is more popular here. You can't play boxing, and maybe that's more damaging ( NFL next). We can still do a whole lot better. Props to the UK fans, you guys Rock! I still remember the Ricky Hatton days.....
UK, Canada, Russia got love for all their fighters. Brook would've been just another disliked black fighter in the US. Idk why all black fighters just don't base themselves in Europe or Canada. This isn't anything new either, and it's not limited to only boxing. Seems like people in those parts of the world appreciate fighters based on how good they are not how close their skin color is to theirs.
When Kell Brook, Lennox Lewis, Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn are called "British" fighters and not "African British" fighters, that's how you know everyone is seen as equal over there.
~~It's because in America everything that involves people- including sports is based on racism, ethnicity and/or skin tone.
