These are Virgil's words NOT Ward's. I remember Ward slightly criticizing Virgil for making him fight at 160 to start his career, also thinking it weakened him. So I think Ward will overrule Virg on this one.

I think they'd cash him out at 168. If they get the Canelo fight that's all they'd have left for a money fight. And if Ward rematches Kovalev, that's all he'd have left too. Stevenson never happens.

AT 168 Ward went the distance against the likes of Miranda, Bika, Abraham and Green. You telling me they are better than GGG? Jacobs has way more punching power than Ward, and he couldn't phase Golovkin. The only chance Ward has is to clinch and cheap shot. But don't look for Ward to sign on for this fight if there is a rehydration clause (which there should be for all fights), Ward is a diva and wants everything on his terms. That's how he was able to get past a weight drained Dawson. GGG has way more leverage than Dawson.

ward is a stylistic nightmare for ggg. all bad. they need to focus on becoming undisputed and beating canelo. ward after kovalev (if he wins) should fight Stevenson so he can also be undisputed at 175. this is what boxing is about, making history. hate him all you want but if ggg gets the last belt and breaks hopkins record of defenses he'll join a very small club of middleweight legends.
