I like what I read from Loeffler here and good to see that Golden Boy isn't saying Gennady is jeopardizing a Canelo fight if he fights BJS in June in the actual negotiating discussions.

Agreed. There is no excuse not to do both fights. Saunders in June, Canelo in September, then another legacy fight in January or Februrary depending on damage taken in prior two fights in six months. Fight him as regular as possible with the best opponents possible without sacrificing longevity and fitness.

K2 will push Canelo-GGG into May 2018 with their attitude about taking such a super fight so lightly, giving it only 3 months.

It's whatever, Canelo-Cotto had a lengthy negotiations, even failed negotiations at first, and then it took a second try later in 2015. In their second negotiations, the fight was announced in June (after months of negotiating) and happened in November, so they had 5 months of hyping it up after it got signed. Canelo-GGG needs the same amount of hyping, because GGG does not bring a lot of PPV's like Cotto did. Even 4 months sucks. 3 months is laughable.

Fight will likely happen in May 2018, Canelo will fight in September 2017, GGG also in the 4th Q of 2017, and then they will be ready to negotiate in December and then have Jan-May, 5 months to promote the fight.

A rumored middleweight unification match between Gennady Golovkin and Billy Joe Saunders for June 10 would jeopardize plans for Golovkin to face Canelo Alvarez in the fall or at least push it back to a later date, Golden Boy President Eric Gomez told ******.com on Wednesday.

“If he makes a fight with Saunders, that will screw up our plans for Canelo,” Gomez told RING before a luncheon in Manhattan for David Lemieux’s middleweight crossroads bout with Curtis Stevens on Saturday at Turning Stone Casino on HBO. “That would impact us. So I’m not aware of anything with Saunders. We’re talking and he’s talking about making the fight (between Golovkin and Canelo) in September. If he tries to do a fight with Saunders, that will screw up the plans.”

Multiple sources have indicated to ******.com that Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler and Saunders, who holds a WBO middleweight title, have had extensive talks about a fight in Golovkin’s native Kazakhstan on June 10. While Loeffler denied a deal is in place on a conference call on Tuesday for June 10, he did admit in a discussion about a fight ostensibly on that date that he’s been in contact with different promoters for potential fights. Gomez suggested that wasn’t a good idea if a fight between Golovkin and Canelo takes place in the fall.

“We need enough time to promote a big fight,” Gomez said. “You have to do the (media) rounds. You have to do all these TV shows. There’s so many plans we have and we’ve talked about promoting a big fight. You need time.” Gomez said that Loeffler has mentioned to him “there is an offer” to Golovkin for June 10. “But he said they’re committed to making the fight with Canelo,” Gomez said of Loeffler and Golovkin.

“Our first goal is to make the fight,” Gomez said he was told by Loeffler. “And I said, ‘Ok great.’ But if he does something in June, then it could jeopardize of push it back at least.”

i think it will most likely kill the fight

for MOST of that 3 months, the guys would be in camp

if Golovkin has issues with his split, yet has done very little to enhance his standing..... he should not be making things more difficult, especially by impacting on the revenue

the original plan was.....Golovkin/Jacobs, Canelo/Chavez, and then if all goes to plan..... Golovkin/Canelo in September..... but now this SMH

personally, if Golovkin does go ahead with a June fight, I think that GBP/Canelo should just bite the bullet and agree to September..... simply to kill yet another K2 roadblock

my issue is..... that Golovkin will talk about Saunders, but fight another no-hoper..... simply because he is NOW committed to "the date"..... which is utter wankery, and a continuation of the same rubbish that we have come to expect

personally, I highly doubt that Golovkin will fight Saunders in June, I think it will be another TBA..... and if so, GBP should bite the bullet.....

..... but, if Golovkin refuses another 8-figure offer AFTER cutting the promotion time short, then I'm not sure what I will think..... actually, I am sure what I would think
