The myth that Pacquaio gave Marquez 4 chances

I've seen this throw around (probably by diehard Pac fans) but it's nonsense.

Fight I & II you can argue Marquez gave him the chance because Marquez was the defending champ.

Fight III wasn't a charity act by Pacquaio and team. It was set up to finally get a controversy free win over Marquez. Remember this was at the height of Pacquaio steroid claims and Marquez was a 38 year old lightweight moving up two divisions. Could say Marquez gave Pacquaio the opportunity to finally get a real win (and get paid)

Fight IV - same. Nobody outside of Pacquaio fanatics think he win and he had nowhere else to go. He needed a fair win (after 3 attempts and what most claim was 3 closses or 2 losses and a draw)

Bottom line it was two fighters fighting for something that the other one had. Marquez ended it with a swift ice cold KO. Pacquaio wasn't saying "Here you go Marquez please beat me" the way people claim.

Not sure why Pac fanatics are so desperate for their man to finally score a fair win over a 44 year old inactive, injured fighter. It would mean absolutely nothing except a payday for both guys.

      more like cherrypicking gone wrong

manny didn't show any type of separation from marquez in the first fight, thought he'd lost a step in4 years and still didn't beat him clearly

fast forward, after a lop sided loss to mayweather and tough title defenses at lightweight they thought he was ripe for the picking

they were wrong again...JMM could have and in many eyes should have won the 3rd fight....I scored it 7-5 marquez and 6-5-1 marquez....one card had it 7-4-1...marquez outboxed him and landed the cleaner shots, he could've been a little more assertive on offense to seal the deal

on to the last fight, 0 decisive wins over an aging marquez, he jumps into a slip inside, right hand counter and its good night

Marquez was supposed to be a cherry.....too bad many got picked

Not to mention that each rematch almost always had a 3 year gap in between each showdown.

The 4th one most clearly. The 5th round really sealed it. They should have stopped the series right there.

They were the most profitable fights Arum could make...for Arum. Arum does not think outside of Top Rank. Hence...Jeff Horn.

Pacman was always the man coming forward, landing harder shots, dropping marquez more often.

Juan avenged his losses in brutal fashion. Although manny is now having a WAAAY better overall career and will have a more known legacy. That has to hurt marquez a little
