**** what Golden Boy are saying. You think fans are going to accept Oscar calling the September fight off if GGG makes the June fight with Saunders? Canelo and Oscar would be ridiculed forever.

Show some backbone, don't underplay your own leverage.

Make the Saunders fight and do what you've been saying for years - unifying all the belts. BJS is finally ready to sell his belt, so beat his ass and make history.

Then, is Oscar walks away, it will be one of the biggest bull**** moves in history - so much so that the pressure to NOT do it will huge. I actually can't see Golden Boy walking away.

And if they do? Well, the fight would still be there for May 2018 (as ridiculous as that sounds) - but even if it's not, **** it. Move up and make some history at 168.

The Canelo fight is not the be all and end all. In fact, allowing Oscar to dictate to you like this makes you and Gennady look pretty damn ******.

If this were about gusto, sure. But, this is all about $$. They're going to do whatever makes the best financial sense to them. Oscar's perspective makes sense but I don't necessarily think K2 needs to bend to that. They just need to decide if it's worth the financial risk because it may be now or never for this fight.

There's also a risk in that DLH may not even come to terms with them if they skip the BJS fight so they could get screwed, even if they go with Oscar's wishes. It's a pretty complex game.

There is a sizeable chunk of the fanbase, using the word fanbase loosely, who would still blame Golovkin even if Oscar insisted he retrieve a golden ***** from the centre of the earth.

at this point though golovkin has built the end of his career around canelo. hes sacrificed legacy to continue down this road(ie ducking ward). ive never bought this "dream" of unifying. if there was a top, prime, 168 guy the boxing world was clamoring to see him fight...he'd be using this "dream" as his excuse. hes just fortunate there isnt an andre ward type at 168 right now.

canelo will be his cash out fight. hes been milking hbo for awhile now. he should fight saunders and canelo and after that he'll prob be about done. he coulld fight charlo or maybe a 168 titlist he feels he can beat. but i woudlnt bank on it. especially if charlo looks good moving up.

I think there's even a pretty big risk that Oscar would then go and sign Saunders as Canelo's next opponent, which would be checkmate

Idk about that reasoning. I mean if he can get something solid contractually with a September fight then I think the smart move is to sit til September. Cuz whats the point of risking the fight over a accidental headbutt, a pulled or injured whatever or just risking an L over a bad night &/or good night by BJS?

I think Loeffler just doesn't play by these pro wrasllin boxing promoters rules so he's going to look weak to many fans & pundits based on his less than exciting "style" of promotion which is to stay out of the limelight & headlines with crazy or hype induced bs like the Arum's, ODLH's & other do.

A specific fight date is an excuse as well. This fight would not lose one viewer if it happened in Oct. He fought Cotto in Nov.

Saunders AND Canelo is two paydays. The Canelo payday will remain there, let's see if Oscar and Canelo walk away if that June fight is made.

Plus, Golovkin needs to get back to being active. Waiting around 6 months for a fight doesn't suit him, IMHO.

If something happens out of the BJS fight, like an injury - then the fight is just deferred to the next Mexican holiday date. This isn't a one time only time.

Beating Saunders, having all the belts, then fighting Canelo next is a perfect progression.

I've always said Loeffler has to do better than focusing only on one fight by reaching out to all those guys who are calling out 3G. His guy wants to fight 3-4 times a year. Loeffler is not capable of delivering. Forget about the Canelo fight for now. It will always be there.
