throwing punches is the easiest way to get yourself knocked out. clinch it out for 12 rounds and wait for the judges to bail you out.

Sarcasm noted but it's increasingly close to the truth...

Boxing gyms are drying up (replaced by MMA gyms) and the ones that do survive are hesitant about sparring and trying to rebrand themselves as gay aerobics.

most coaches say a fighter doesnt have a good and proper stance until a full year of training. I can see that because fighters evolve daily
Kinda amusing thread, but yeah getting the stance and footwork right is tougher than punch technique (and I never cracked either before I packed it in). Incidentally did you see the Lomachenko '2 days' episode? Lomas dad took him out of the gym at age 9 (he started at 4) for 4 freakin years and sent him to dance classes to teach him footwork. Just shows you.

Swift Gift Garcia and his dad even thought they won the fight with One Time Thurman. Then Swift admitted in the post-fight interview he feared letting his hands go because he might get countered. In other words, just do enough and let the judges hand over the Gift.

why you gotta lie?? You go to a boxing gym the teach you your stance, teach you the jab and the cross, slowly move on to the hook and uppercuts, no ****ing clinching is taught

Not sure if bsing or not....cuz I could see a gym taking this stance in this ultra PC time, people with vaginas oriented, safe place gym oddly enough, but ultimately if they aren't letting you hit the heavybag, or my favorite the double end bag, I'm not sure a boxing gym could pay the rent.

That said I do think there is something to be said for not sparring for awhile & sparring less even once you do start to get more seriously into boxing or competing.
