Amir Khan knows that getting beat by Kell Brook, on arguably the biggest stage that the UK can put forward, will kill any chance of retaining acclaim afterward.

George Groves got flattened, after putting forward a compelling effort, in his rematch and hasn't been the same since.

Khan could step into an MMA cage, get knocked out by Conor McGregor, and still not have that do the type of damage to his boxing finances that a defeat by Kell Brook would do.

Khan will exhaust any and every other marketable fight possible before he lets his career be ended by Kell Brook

As much as I detest Khan and am aware he is clearly ducking Brook - there may be something in what he is saying about the trash talk thing here. See Andy Lee's recent comments about Haye-Bellew - the whole trash thing becomes a huge, big fake joke and Hearn is there, prodding everyone on - the more **** everyone talks, the more money he and Sky can milk out of it.

Now, this isn't to say I don't love the conflict boxing throws up, including the press conference trash talk.

But there is something to be said for not becoming a puppet in the Eddie Hearn game. BTW, I like Hearn. But the Haye-Bellew stuff really became ridiculous.
