If Golovkin care anything about legacy, he would wait and put his whole focus on the top name in the sport then chasing after cracker jack belts. Its obvious GGG doesn't think he will beat Canelo so his just milking his career before cashing out to Canelo.

that is exactly what I believe

    they want Hopkins record

it is the easiest/lamest way to shine, the best risk/reward

a Saunders fight will not happen

they will fight a no-hoper in Kasdfghjstan..... then the Canelo fight will fall over, leading to another no-hoper..... and then another no-hoper to break the record..... then they will cash-out to Canelo (for the fans, of course LOL)

they have done nothing to make meaningful fights, in fact they have avoided them, preferring to rely on hype/ABC rubbish..... why on earth would they change tack now?

Macklin, Dominic "house arrest" Wade, etc, etc, etc.

This is why he's a hypejob. YOU triple d1ck fans need to stop your crying about weight...did you cry foul when mayweather was outweighed by 15, 18, 20+ lbs? How about sergio when chavez EASILY outweighed him by 20-25 lbs?

Golovkin KO's HWs in sparring doe, anyone from 154-168 doe, blah, blah...nothing but excuses.

to be honest, I wouldn't care

Golovkin can do whatever he wants, and history will judge him accordingly..... just like everyone else..... it really is no big deal, because historians will get it right

I wouldn't care at all if it wasn't for the fact that those hype-jobs are fixated on breaking Hopkins record

I know you are aware that record is fake (WBA regular title SMH), but forget that for a sec.....

Gennady's resume is fkn WEAK, which would normally be understandable in such a weak middleweight era...... but they have avoided fights against MUCH BETTER opponents, MANY of who are genuine world-class fighters, TWO of whom were Golovkin's best possible paydays BAR NONE!!

defending a fake title is one thing, but defending that fake title against cherry-picked no-hopers, when you COULD have selected better opponents...... is so far beyond lame, and so disrespectful to the sport, and to Hopkins..... that it defies logic

the ONLY journo to touch on that subject (whilst not specifically making that exact claim)..... is Lyle Fitzsimmons..... the rest are just sell-out hacks imo

I know what it means but doesn't the fact Golovkin will be holding almost all the belts factor in. It seems too simplistic to me.

Well, it depends on how one looks at it. If they are fighting for legacy, the division is stacked with talent and they are winning all or even most of their fights, it would mean more. The division is not loaded with talent, its very weak. He's hasn't fought for all of the belts (and all of these belts these days are a joke anyway) To get them. Golovkin and his team (honestly more his team) are ******. Period. They just never got that after his first ppv completely flopped, that he was not the star they thought. Once the whole thing with canelo started though, they were trying to show negotiating power they didn't have. They have the belts, save for Saunders yes, and canelo dumped his belt yes, but canelo is still a recognized champ. Ultimately, the Mexican fan base is massive, and Alvarez has 1 official defeat to Mayweather. Hes also got some very good names on his resume. The fact is that canelo holds pretty much all the cards. If I were k2, I wouldn't expect more than a 70/30 split. They really screwed up imo not taking a 15 million dollar deal. I don't think he'll come near that now.

Probably not. If Golovkin is OK with the amount of money he's making now then the fight won't happen.

Golovkin will find any reason to duck Canelo. He has been for years...

I totally agree. It was such a B*tch move when Canelo was golovkins mandatory, and golovkin gave up the wbc belt like a scared b*tch, killed himself to make 154,and fought the weakest possible champion at that weight. Don't forget that time that Canelo was ready to beat the **** out of ggg at 160,but golovkin said that he was too small for 160,yet goes on to make a fight at 164.5 with Chavez Jr. **** golovkin, right?

Along with a rematch clause that gives a 95/5 split in favor of Canela. Yeah man. Great deal.

GGG should stop chasing the Canelo fight. If he backs out of the June fight then Golden Boy will find another excuse to not fight in Sep. I would rather see GGG fight 3 times a year instead of waiting for Canelo to duck him again

Then he will have to move up or down, 160 is full of bums and people have grown tired of the same stories and fights and hbo sucking buttlovekin off

Edit: UNLESS Wade is off house arrest...then let's see the rematch. I'll bet he'd give him a rematch.
