Comments Thread For: Schaefer Agrees With De La Hoya's Position on Golovkin June Fight

Who would pay for it? The money comes from it being one of the opening events for the Expo ... that's the only way it makes sense.Despite Universum and now K2 running GGG's career near the ground GGG still became a little famous. It makes you wonder what a real promoter would've done with his career. Especially right now, you got fights that look pretty easy to make like the Canelo fight but his promoter is just ****ing around when it is very clear to anyone but the GGG fanclub that this is a terrible move by K2.
I also love how GGG fan logic is that Canelo-GGG should be moved to October or November to make room for GGG to fight Saunders in June in the Expo thing...like telling the A-side, who's Mexican, not to fight on Mexican Indepence week to accommodate the b-side fighting on a date of his choice
Just fight Saunders in May, forget about the Expo, problem solved.
I agree looking at the traditional US based structure it'd make far more sense to wait for Canelo, but a chance for a stadium fight and a 'glorious homecoming' for all the marbles at 160? That **** might never come around again. And there's a case to be made that a Canelo fight - whether in September or some time in the future would be even bigger with the 'Undisputed' banner behind it.
IDK, man. I guess we just have to wait and see which way both sides decide to jump, both sides are going to be acting in what they believe their best interests to be - contrary to what many loudmouths on this side like to say, this **** ain't about ducking or cowardice - these guys aren't afraid to face each other in the ring.
You have a point about Golovkin's career though - Universum must have looked like a smart choice when he first started out, but they fucked him pretty bad, especially with the US / Germany ban when he decided to leave. And K2? He signed with an outfit that had precisely zero US presence or leverage to embark on a US career... wtf? It does seem he did try other promoters, though - Arum has admitted he was approached but wouldn't touch Golovkin because of the ongoing litigation with Universum. Guess Golovkin's just real lucky that HBO decided to put their weight behind him.Comment

So two guys who set up boxing fights for a living (who are pretty much arch rivals) both agree that GGG fighting in june rightfully jeopardizes the canelo fight in September.
but GGG fans who know better says its canelo who doesnt want to fight lmfao.... funny.Comment

Ok but in the twilight of his career he can either fight bully joe and see what options he has after that fight (Charlo? Degale?) or wait for the real payday. Ggg won't be canelo biggest payday, canelo will far and away be gggs. So he has to wait or get these peanutsAnother one paid by liars to spread bs. Your hero Canelo can have all the money he wants (if there are enough morons to pay for his fights). He ran from the challenge when its mattered. He is damaged goods. I hope K2 will not believe these liars. The only reason they do not want GGG fighting Sanders is they want to have a way out of Canelo-GGG. In order to increase their profits they pretend that Canelo is this warrior who is going to fight a champion. But not right now.... later down the stretch.
They are cancer to the boxing...Comment

Remember when De La Hoya fought Chávez snr.? A monster big fight. That fight took place on 18th of september 1998. And guess what. De La Hoya fought on June 13th.
This is soooo weak fellas.Comment

yep just two guys who set up fights. they have no bias seeing as they work or have worked for canelo. thats like trumps press secretary and former chief strategist saying trump is competent so i guess its true? they have no bias and would never lie...Comment

nonsense! this fight has been getting nonstop promotion for two years now. if oscar was really concerned with guys getting injured he would cancel the chavez fight. what a clown. if Loeffler caves to this demand ggg should seriously consider finding another promoter with a backbone that'll tell oscar to fck off. all these years all we've heard is ggg wants all the belts blah blah ..well here it is. here's the chance to make history. they're really gonna let a man in fishnets derail that opportunity? what if saunders changes his mind and continues to hold the belt hostage? i won't feel no pity for ggg. if they dont take the june fight i better not hear another word about them only wanting all the belts at 160.
canelo fight is about money. thats it. saunders fight is about history and legacy. being undisputed will stamp ggg as one of the greatest middleweights to ever do it. and then the next goal should be breaking Hopkins record.
we'll see with GGG's next move if he's more concerned with just money or making history. if the chavez fight is close oscar is going straight into a rematch. they also have Lemieux and a Cotto rematch to choose from.Comment

they are telling the true. Can you prove they arent?Comment

Nobody can. Just as you cannot say that daggum's example wouldn't be true.
You can look at precedent though. Do yourself a favor and check Oscar's boxrec. Note the date of his fight against Chávez Sr. Then notice when he fought prior to that.
Then you know that Oscar and Scaefer are talking crap. They have a completely different agenda. They do not want the fight. Simple as that.Comment
