Great point cotto fight was more significant but they left money on the table mainly because of roc nation being involved. More time, better date, better planning and execution is why Chavez is already guranateed a larger live gate, might sell more ppvs with in my mind a inferior fight. You need more time to sell this to casual fans and even a man who has every reason to hate Oscar understands this and defended him. K2 are amateurs don't know about big fights or what is needed for successful PPVs. Whatever chavez ends up making they won't be kicking themselves because they left money on the table and didn't have time. They want the same for GGG fight.

I still don't agree with it but Schaefer articulates the points better than Oscar and I can kinda agree with what he's saying People say Floyd would start promoting his fights a month or two out, but that's Floyd. Neither of these two fighters are as big as Floyd, not even combined. If Oscar is willing to give K2 the split they want then Oscar is going to be looking to make a lot more money and the fight will need o be built. We know GGG because we're boxing fans. But 170k PPV's proves he hasn't crossed over. Hardcore boxing fans can push this fight to 600-700k PPV's but Oscar is looking to get this to a million. So I can kinda understand where he's coming from in terms of taking longer to promote the fight.

It doesnt do a million under any circumstance. Chavez-Canelo outsells it regardless of the winner.

Canelo had his time as a big shot and lost his luster. He still has fans but his sales have been on the slide. Chavez-Canelo is a special event, Canelo-GGG will pale in comparison. It aint fair but its the way it is.

I have to agree with you. On a Mexican Holiday Canelo is clearly the A side. With a good promotion, this fight could reach 2m sales if it wasn't for the streaming phenomenon. Anyway a 25% piece of that action if it was garantied, would be worth siting down for sure.
