If anyone is prone to getting hurt it'd be Canelo in may. He's coming off an injury to his hand and he's going to be punching a guy with a cane man head in Chavez Jr. I don't see Saunders really doing much to jeopardize ggg's chance to fight in September. As far as promoting a ppv, wouldn't it help the promotion of ggg owned ALL of the belts at mw?

Yeah and maybe Canelo should cancel his May fight as well. He's the one who broke his hand already, don't wanna risk it ya know.

Canelo can't spend the rest of his career bouncing from 155 to 164.5. He is a middleweight and has been for years but fighting at 160 would have meant Golovkin. Time to get it over with.

All the posturing and pickiness and threats will suddenly vanish when they actually want it.

Of course he does... If Schaefer is going for the "heel" promoter character, he is doing a **** up job.

But when Floyd delays announcement of May-Pac to the last minute so he can cycle PEDs before drug testing starts, allegedly, Schaefer doesn't say ****. So transparent.

Why does the fight have to take place on Mexican Independence Day ? Can't they fight in October ? Besides it's looking like Floyd vs Connor will happen in September.

If the Chavez fight is remotely close GGG will be kicked to the curb come September for the rematch. They wasted enough time waiting for the Canelo fight, time to move on and fight when they want to fight.

                You're comparing a 300 million fight to Golovkin-Canelo?

After 7 years people just wanted it to get done and Schaefer was not involved in those talks or even allowed to do interviews because of the no-compete after the Golden Boy settlement. He was actually allowed to talk and take part in boxing events in the fall of 2015 when the no-compete ran out.

There has to be contract that the Canelo vs GGG fight is set for september, otherwise GGG can do whatever he wants.

I still don't agree with it but Schaefer articulates the points better than Oscar and I can kinda agree with what he's saying People say Floyd would start promoting his fights a month or two out, but that's Floyd. Neither of these two fighters are as big as Floyd, not even combined. If Oscar is willing to give K2 the split they want then Oscar is going to be looking to make a lot more money and the fight will need o be built. We know GGG because we're boxing fans. But 170k PPV's proves he hasn't crossed over. Hardcore boxing fans can push this fight to 600-700k PPV's but Oscar is looking to get this to a million. So I can kinda understand where he's coming from in terms of taking longer to promote the fight.
