hypothetically speaking, would depend on who was running the event

If Ringstar Sports runs the event, Mikey Garcia is placed at the forefront, he leads the promotional efforts with the local press (fight is likely for CA/NV), and the tie-in with PBC also helps Mikey Garcia cross-promote the fight even further (doubt Garcia goes with the PPV move in the first place, but whatever).

If Golden Boy runs the event, Oscar will have to figure out how to get a Tokyo-based Venezuelan fighter much exposure in the US. Oscar has the ESPN2 stage and Golden Boy magazine, and not all that much more else.

Unless someone here is getting a percentage of the sales, who cares? It should be a good fight regardless of numbers. PPV buys doesn't=good fight.

Would do horrible numbers, but the match up is a lot better. Outcome might be different than ggg-jacobs. On paper, this one has the makings of a classic w/ their styles and Linares' punch resistance.

Golden Boy does better promotion than PBC and Ringstar. I think if Linares and Garcia gets made, it will be under GBP banner.

Ringstar/Showtime (Mikey Garcia hasn't signed anything, but it does seem like the mutual interest between Mikey and his family and Schaefer will end up with something signed) have the by far more marketable fight.

Beyond that, I'd argue with the point that Oscar De La Hoya puts on better events than Richard Schaefer does, tbh. Pull Saul Alvarez, could you point to a single other massive event that Golden Boy has put on under Oscar?

Probably the same. Mikey Garcia is Mexican so he will have a few 10s of thousands of Mexicans buying the ppv. Linares brings down the ppv though, he's unknown and everyone who does know him knows he'd get KTFO by Garcia.
