Colombian puncher Miguel "El Escorpin" Marriaga (25-1, 21 KOs) is training in Mexico City with full focus on one of the most important fights of his career. On the night of April 22, Marriaga will collide with world champion Oscar Valdez (21-0, 19 KOs) of Mexico for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight world championship at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, United States.

Marriaga not being able to best or even equal Valdez in skill needs to hurt or KO Valdez to win or try to make it as close as possible. I think Miguel is durable enough to go the distance but Valdez is on a KO streak so momentum is favoring him going in. After Miguel's defeat in attempting to win the WBA from Walters he ( Marriaga ) has built himself back up for another opportunity at a featherweight title ; this time for the WBO by way of the NABO.

I'm sure Marriaga knows his window at gold is closing and that this might be the last time ( at this weight at least ) so he should be very focus and determined as such the elements are there for a exciting fight : both men carry power and styles suggest plenty of trades that can produce a KO.

Valdez needs to stop his wild swing from the fences with everything on it amateur type punch or against a guy with solid defense, he is going to tire himself out and or get caught. He loads up and telegraphs his punches which will haunt him at higher levels if he doesnt correct that bad mistake in technique. If he corrects it, he can go far.
