Comments Thread For: Aldo Doubts Mayweather-McGregor Gets Beyond UFC Obstacles

UFC world champion Jose Aldo does not believe a possible fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC superstar Conor McGregor will ever happen. Both athletes are very interested in facing each other in a boxing ring. McGregor has already started training for a boxing match, and last year he obtained a boxing license in the state of California. He intends to secure a license to boxing in Nevada, in order to pave the way for a Las Vegas fight with Mayweather.

The UFC want 50% of Conor's purse. That isn't likely to sit well with The Notorious, especially if Floyd continues low balling him with these 15 million dollar offers.

I don't doubt Aldo will pull out of his June 3 fight with his punk a$$, but he has a point.

Boxing is a 80% going to the athlete sport & the UFC is rumored to be much lower with the athletes cut (idk about 20% like Aldo is saying, but definitely not as high as boxing obviously). So is there going to be enough money in that 20% for boxing people & the UFC or is Conor gonna have to fork over a nice % of his cut or a lil of both? Who f#cking knows, but I could see the math not make sense here for all 3 major parties (Floyd, Conor & the UFC).

Another thing is for the UFC a happy Conor is good for their business so what if he loses to Floyd in a boxing match & the UFC doesn't pocket a huge cut from that fight. And the potential upside for them if somehow Conor pulled off an upset would be insane for them. Seems worth the risk cuz MMA fans aren't as flimsy with their appreciation of athletes as boxing fans are & losing, in particular when its in another sport, isn't seen as an opportunity to jump off the bandwagon en mass. Cyborg is still a beast to MMA fans despite getting beat the f#ck up in a kickboxing match.

How can Aldo even state such nonsense......

Aldo is saying because McGregor is a UFC fighter and Mayweather who isn't, needs to abide by UFC pay structure to get the fight done. Mayweather is his own boss and White is a highly paid employee. So at the end of the day UFC will more than likely let the fight happen they're just trying to see how much they can get out of McGregor because his portion will be more than enough for UFC to make more than they ever have which I suspect is the hold up. Trying to see how much they can pilfer from McGregor instead of just taking a step aside fee like Arum did to do nothing.

UFC will block this fight until McGregor agrees to give them a significant amount of his purse to step aside and allow the fight. UFC will not get a single dime out of Floyd's end he is keeping all of his money. So now it's a tug of war between McGregor and UFC on how much each side walks away it. If McGregor really wants it then pay UFC their cut and the fight gets done. I personally hope this circus never happens and this just ends up being a power play to get the UFC to pay him more money for future UFC fights. McGregor has no chance at actually beating Floyd he's just tired of the peanuts the UFC pays with their slave contracts robbing fighters blind.
