Is Errol Spence Another Shawn Porter-type Hype Job (Algieri = Malignaggi)?

Porter was hyped to the max after his crushing victory over Paulie Malignaggi. No one beat Malignaggi in quite as impressive fashion before or since. But Porter never really lived up to that initial hype, he often seems to fall short at championship level of the sport with losses to both Brook (albeit disputed with one judge giving it a draw), Thurman and even a draw with Julio Diaz - which many thought Porter lost too.

Spence's victory against 42 year old Bundu in his last fight, seemed more likely that father time just caught up with Bundu so he was easy pickings.

So going by a similar benchmark, Spence beat Algieri like neither Pacquiao or Khan could, but just like when Porter crushed Malignaggi and created a whirlwind of hype off the back of that victory, is Spence destined to be a similar type of hype job?

We will find out on May 27th. The good thing is we don't have to wait until Spence is 35 years old to fight the best in his division

I think hes really good but still too soon for a guy like brook. I watched him fight he has power and speed but i dont think he will beat brook. He hasnt faced a single guy who actually hits back yet.

              i don't think Spence is a hypejob

however he is being moved along quickly, maybe a tad green

Brook at this stage in his career was having trilogies with cab drivers such as Ernie Smith (god rest his soul)

People may ask who is Ernie Smith....ES was a lad who fought 161 bouts, had a 1% KO ratio, and lost 142 fights and won only 13

Brook fought this fella 3 times...

People wonder why Brook isnt praised enough, its because he took the easy route for most of is career, while others took on dangerous fights over and over

Lol. Who was hyping Shawn Porter tho? He lost to Julio Diaz. Damn y'all got some low expectations.

Anyways I have nothing negative to say about Brook or Spence. They knocked out a deal and gave me a fight I want to see.

I like Spence confidence, thats what has impressed me the most.

Brook looked a little rattled at the presser

Its still a 50/50 fight, but i think i will make my pick on the day of the weigh in, i want to see how Brook looks on those scales....

So far Spence is showing the confidence, he has the size, and has shown he can finish opponents in style.

However these opponents were coming off losses, so one has to wonder if they were washed up

Spence seems like he thrives off the hate, i hope he has been studying Brook, i read he is sparring with the Charlo's, i dont see how this will prepare him for Brook.

One thing you don't do is underestimate Brook.

I can't wait for this fight, great matchup.
