Comments Thread For: Brace Yourself for the Real Possibility of Canelo-Lemieux in September

By Keith Idec - If, like essentially everyone invested in boxing, you want to finally get to see Canelo Alvarez fight Gennady Golovkin in September, don't get your hopes up. Much of what has transpired over the past two weeks suggests we're more likely to settle for an Alvarez-David Lemieux fight come September. As disappointing as that would be, the foundation is being built for Alvarez to fight a former middleweight champion Golovkin knocked out, not Golovkin, if the Mexican superstar can overcome countryman Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on May 6 in Las Vegas...

One would think GBP would keep Canelo as far away from Lemieux as possible.

Canelo doesn't have the jab to get lemieux's respect, dangerous fight.

This is all bs by odh, if Golovkin has a cut in saunders the next day they sign to fight lemieux. Just looking for reasons to duck, which means even if Golovkin passes on a huge payday in June, it would probably be for nothing anyway.

So if hypothetically Lemieux beat Canelo that means we have lineal champ..... I can finish that sentence...

This might be a dangerous fight for Canelo.

Actually don't have a problem with this fight. It has become blatantly obvious that Canelo will not be in the ring with GGG anytime soon, and Lemieux would be a tough match up for Canelo. If Lemieux lands anything major the fight could be over. Not to mention Lemieux had taken punches from bigger punchers than Canelo, so it's definitely a fight I'd be interested in seeing. With one caveat, I'm not ordering the PPV (which it would absolutely be).

You are a ***ing **** sucker de la holic.

You were an assett as a boxer but as a coke head, alcoholic promoter, you are a disservice to boxing as a whole.

Your boy can try and hold onto the 'lineal' title but every boxing fan, coach and journist with half a brain knows GGG is the MAN at middleweight.

DID I MENTION ODLH CAN F#@K HIMSELF?

Sounds to me like oscar is trying to be ggg's promoter by default...telling him when.he can and cant fight and against who. Truth be told...canelo is only boxings biggest "superstar" by word...and with everybody accepting that...the kid can go on avoiding any real fights just by callling himself A side. For all the time golden boy has been.posturing...other fighters have been out there challenging themselves against real opposition. GGG/Jacobs...lemeuix/ stevens...brook vs spence...santa vs the jackal...thurman vs porter and garcia...joshau klit and the list goes on. I still dont undetstand what canelo has done to reach the level they say hes at. Lost to mayweather...went life and with an old shopworn cotto...and chin checked glassy khan. At what time in history will canelo ever be considered an agt or hof material?
