Super Middleweight division -- what's next for Calzaghe?

What's next for Calzaghe in the super middleweight division? Who will he fight next? Kessler? Beyer? Can either of these guys beat him?

Or, I've heard some say that Calzaghe possibly could move up in weight. How would he do against someone like Tarver? Why doesn't he go up against some name light heavyweight? Or, why don't some name middleweights go up to take him on? Hopkins is jumping up to Light Heavyweight to take on Tarver.

I doubt it. Beyer has never been in the same class, and Kessler just doesn't have the same level of experience.

I don't know whats next exactly but I sure hope if Tarver gets past Hopkins than Calzaghe/Tarver comes off by years end.

If I were him I'd be calling out the winners on June 10th and 17th. If that doesn't work (and it probably won't, no US fighters have ever wanted to fight him except Lacy), then I'd go after Kessler since he's now recognized as the 2nd best SMW while Lacy regroups.

I don't think Calzaghe would do well going up in weight, actually think Lacy might be better served to move to light heavyweight than Calzaghe. Do think Joe could do very well with his speed and power at Middlewight. Then he would have more options for a name fight.

I think several PPL will fight him especially after the dominant Lacy performance. They probably just won't fight him in Europe and what Elite fighter would to be completely honest. He's getting older so he'll have to decide how he wants his legacy to be, there's no denying what he's done. I say either the Taylor/Wright winner or Tarver/Hopkins is his best bet possibly taking 1 fight before that 1 if he wants. Otherwise he'll retire with a young Lacey as his best win and history will always hold that against him!

I doubt he will retire anytime in the next two years. He will fight 3 more times probably as long as he does not get beaten.

I heard some announcer on Friday Night Fights mention that Calzaghe was having trouble even making weight at SMW, and that therefore they said it would be more likely for him to move up in weight rather than down. But, who knows. Super Joe knows, I guess. lol

I'd just like to see the guy fight a BIG name fighter either way.

Fair enough Raessad, I just think he's talented and when I see Hatton, Lacy leave there respective homeland's and he never seems to and I'm hearing names of ppl not in his league for his next fight. I mean RJJ and PBF receive flak for there fight's and they've got lot's of A and B level fighter's on their resumee. Yet I don't see why he doesn't get more heat for being talented but not making the "big fight's" like ppl alway's complain about. Even if he loses I'd have more respect for him like some European's did for Lacy or American's for Hatton coming here.
