Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman Breaks Down Kell Brook vs. Errol Spence

Earlier this month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Keith Thurman won a twelve round split decision over Danny Garcia to unify the WBC, WBA welterweight titles. On May 27th in Sheffield, another important welterweight fight will take place when Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) makes a mandatory defense of his IBF world title against mandatory challenger Errol Spence (21-0, 18 KOs).

Sage words, Keith Thurman. A truly though-provoking assessment.

Thurman-Garcia damn near sold out Barclays Center, with CBS ponying up a good bit of money (the fighters did split $4m, before counting any side money that they got).

Thurman vs Brook/Spence winner (to unify the division; to hell with the WBO belt), specifically Thurman vs Brook to unify, is the type of fight that I could honestly see MGM Resorts shelling out a sizable amount of money to host.

O2 Arena or T-Mobile Arena? I'm pretty sure even Eddie Hearn would pick T-Mobile Arena.

I like Thurman, he's deep and articulate. Garcia sounds like a criminal who'd stab you if you turn around.

nah man! O2 arena gets fighters paid more... Plus the pound is more than the dollar.... Also brook vs thurman is a ppv fight in london... Thats why guys like charles martin and dominc braezeale make around 3 to 4 million when they go fight in england....you maybe right about mgm wanting the fight though....

In what world does O2 Arena pay out more to the fighters than T-Mobile Arena?

No one knows for sure what Charles Martin and Dominic Breazeale got, but I'd bet that the reason that they were able to get as much as they did was because Anthony Joshua is already a crossover star in the UK and on Box Office. Kell Brook is a known fighter in the UK, but he's not Anthony Joshua.
