So much negativity on the forum, to be expected. Anyways GGG vs. Jacobs was a good fight, I didn't score it to be honest, I just watched it and I thought it was hell of a close fight and wouldn't have had a problem if it went either way but I am glad GGG got the decision, I am a big GGG fan but really like Jacobs too.
Even though I didn't score the fight I felt like GGG controlled the early part of the fight and Jacobs had a few good middle rounds and towards the end you can give the rounds to either guy. I didn't think DJ took it from the champion. Can you give the fight to Jacobs? sure... was it a robbery? hell no. I thought GGG was spent towards the end, the body work DJ did was fantastic, going into the fight I thought Golovkin would do the better body work, I was wrong on that. I always thought this would be a close competitive fight if GGG couldn't KO Danny I was sure it would be a 7-5 type of fight but I still favored GGG. Most people had a crazy unrealistic idea of GGG or extremely low expectation of DJ.
GGG vs. Canelo will not be nearly as competitive as this, Styles make fights, DJ has the style to make GGG's life miserable and he did. What i mean by that is DJ has massive power, has excellent boxing skills, great movement and quick hands (canelo i guess has quick hands too) overall Canelo doesn't have that style, he doesn't have the power to keep GGG at bay so unless GGG loses a few more steps don't expect Canelo vs. Golovkin to be as competitive. Lets just put it this way everyone Canelo fought Jacobs would have beaten, espcially the current Jacobs not the pre-cancer suergery Jacobs (even floyd, Jacobs is just too big and too strong for floyd)
The next fight i want to see for Jacobs is vs. Charlo, in fact I think it would be the 2nd/3rd best fight in the division along with GGG vs. Canelo and GGG vs. BJS. I give the edge to Jacobs in a good competitive fight but really i think it would give us a great idea of how good Jacobs/Charolo are, Charlo would be considered a top elite fighter and most feel that DJ got lucky against Quillin so why not add another elite name to know where DJ stands, i know he is elite but most people want to descredit DJ just so that GGG looks bad.
In my eyes this was a good event and it raised GGGs stock for me, not in a sense that i think he is a monster and now he is more of a monster but in a sense that he added an excellent win on his resume, and now he has truely an elite fighter who was bigger than him (not like Brook who was elite but coming up).
