Only thing with Max is that ever since he got with hbo they put the mute on him and he cant say what he really thinks like when Floyd and de la hoya fought he said it wasn't even close that Floyd clearly won then all of the sudden his tune changed. He was better in espn Friday night fights....

I don't think he was burned...he tried to set the apartment on fire, but failed. He wasn't found til 5 days after.

The real story is..
Max is a subpar boxing analyst but an interesting commentator as far as bringing personality to it.
I think Merchant was near-openly racist but was an excellent boxing analyst.

Outside of the boxer/commentators merchant and steward were the only ones who regularly brought insight to the action in the ring that wasn't always readily apparent.

Many of times Merchant went against the grain and said things like " I see that es becoming weary of the right hand" and the other commentators disagree and boom the guy gets hurt by s right hand. That's insight.

Too often max and the team side with popularist views without challenge. And then they look shocked when something happens that every other thinking man could predict.
