So how good was Pirog?

Unless Golovkin gives Pirog's power the same respect, Golovkin would beat him and stop him late, granted that he works the body efficiently, which should be the gameplan for a guy that moves his upperbody as much as Pirog.

I think it was a different Jacobs he fought. So i wouldn't like to compare the 2 fights too much.
Pirog did look a great fighter though. Shame about his injury as he looked like he had the tools. I would of liked to see how his career panned out.

The Jacobs in the Pirog was half of what GGG fought, his grandmother died before the fight with Pirog and Jacobs already stated that he wasn't focus on the Pirog fight, but the GGG fight was different and has 7 years of learning curve and another 9 months to prepare and another 20 plus pounds on GGG. So you could see why Pirog easily beat Jacobs.
        This jacobs was on steroids.

Lets be real here, you dont grow an iron chin from glass becausr you are "focused"

He was being tested was he not?
Like others say he made sure he weighed more than normal, but that wasn't enough because he wasn't counting on GGG being able to outbox him.
Maybe Jacobs thought he could just survive and because of that he would be entitled to a decision, but he really didn't do enough to deserve a win against a unified champion when he was being beaten to the punch for majority of the rounds.

I think Pirog was obviously good, in the way he moved and boxed, you could tell he was good. That was a 23 year old Jacobs but still, Jacobs was favored for a reason, he was seen as good too but Pirog was just better than night. Jacobs outboxed him, but his chin couldn't take a punch that night.

He retired prematurely because of back problems so we'll never know anything else about him. He was 30 when he KO'ed Jacobs, so he had like 3-4 more years left on him if he stayed healthy. He didn't really capitalize on his Jacobs win though, he did **** all the next 2 years.

Jacobs was only about three years into his pro career at that point

Top prospects usually take about four years to build up to a title shot

Nothing wrong with taking an educational loss or two early in your career

He flattened and schooled a PROSPECT and didn't do much else.

I don't remember anybody getting that much cred for beating a PROSPECT.

... Yes: Jacobs was far too young and green in order to be able to face such a "smooth operator" in Pirog...
... Pirog only shifted once and left Jacobs clueless about the punch he was to be hit with...

Some chicked-shyt Golovkin hardcores say Pirog "ducked" Golovkin. Which is just a desperate lie.

Would love to have seen how high Pirog could have gone. His style was a really special blend.
Korobov in interviews since 2014 always wanted GGG. Said the amateurs meant nothing..

So we saw what GGG vs Jacobs went. When Korobov went against a proven and consistent Lee, we saw what happened.

Therefore, in Atlas' NYC accent, ''One must wundah why Korobov vs Golovkin never happened.''
