He literally flattened and schooled Jacobs. He also had a karate film type defense that rolled into an offense. Could he have tied GGG into knots and beat him easily if he could take what GGG could dish out?

So how good was Pirog?

This was a different Jacobs. This Jacobs was in his prime, focused, eager to beat GGG. The Jacobs in the Pirog was half of what GGG fought, his grandmother died before the fight with Pirog and Jacobs already stated that he wasn't focus on the Pirog fight, but the GGG fight was different and has 7 years of learning curve and another 9 months to prepare and another 20 plus pounds on GGG. So you could see why Pirog easily beat Jacobs.

Jacobs didn't stay down after the pirog knockdown... the ref called that to early.... and Jacobs was up on all cards.... pirog was definitely overrated ggg would of flattened him

It is easy to get carried away, but was definitely a formidable fighter. Excellent boxing skills and defense, a unique style with a lot of nuances, power and good size/reach. Honestly I thought he controlled Jacobs the entire fight. Jacobs had no idea what to do with him.
I think it's fair to say he looks even better after the fight this weekend, although I suspect Danny has improved since Pirog flattened him. I also think it is fair to point out that he excelled where GGG has shown shortcomings. Hard to judge a guy on such a short career, though.
It would have been interesting to see him in the mix.

yeah the ref didnt give him a chance to recover. i dont blame him because it was a nasty knockdown and hes just trying to protect him but back in the day they would have always allowed them back up. Imagine if holmes wasnt allowed to get up vs shavers ect.

We'll never know for sure but I think Priog showed huge potential and would be ruling 160 right now.

Some chicked-shyt Golovkin hardcores say Pirog "ducked" Golovkin. Which is just a desperate lie.
Would love to have seen how high Pirog could have gone. His style was a really special blend.

Seemed to be a very good fighter from what saw. Shame he had his career cut short, stylistically he would have been a nightmare for anyone at 160 currently.
He exerts real pressure like GGG but has superior head and upper body movement. It would have been very interesting to see what would of happened if he fought GGG. I would still favour GGG but it certainly wouldn't have been an easy fight for him.
