Golovkin is a top fighter; and take nothing away from his hard fought victory over Jacobs, but I don't think he would have beaten a Hagler or Leonard or Hearns at middleweight.

Lol......The fight is/was NEVER going to be in Kazakhstan ..as Ali G said they don't even have camera's ...it was just a terminology as BJS also said he will fight him in a field...they won't fight in a field....ffs!I wrote a thread how Jacobs would last 12 rounds against Golovkin and possibly beat Golovkin, but I can't see BJS doing the same thing, I have to watch a few of his fights and then I'll give my take, but why would this fight be in Kazakhstan??? More money in US or UK
If it was i'd be amazed it makes no sense.Last edited by thack; 03-20-2017, 06:43 AM.Comment

No way he would beat Hearns or Hagler. Hearns would be much bigger. Hagler would be smaller but GGG wouldn`t have reach advantage..Comment

If BJS is in the very best shape of his life this could be a much closer fight than a lot of people might think.Comment

Golovkin doesn't swing weight (like Saunders), and at his age inactivity would likely be more damaging than continued activity.... I think fighting Jacobs and Saunders back to back within 3 months and having to fight a fresher younger Canelo only 3 months after that could be too much for the 35 year old GGG. No matter how easy the Saunders fight might end up being, the fight is not what takes something out of you, it's also the 10 week training camp where ur body takes a lot of punishment and u r losing weight.
Swinging weight is what damages boxers, Hatton comes to mind, but many examples including Duran (reason SRL wanted the rematch so fast as he saw what Duran was doing to his body).
Golovkin has said he wants to fight 4 times in 2017, and no reason he can't other than promotional issues. ideally:
- June Saunders
- Sept Canelo
- Dec Jacobs rematch
Of course if he slips up in any of those, then the train is off the rails, and likely he won't box past 2018 anyway.
If Canelo beats Golovkin, then Jacobs would be in line for a Canelo payday instead of a Golovkin rematch, which would be good for Jacobs.
And if by some miracle Saunders beat Golovkin, then I guess all the belts get held hostage for an indefinite period as Saunders financial demands likely be too rich for GBP's taste.Comment

Totally TRUE. GGG would NOT have beaten HAGLER. Hagler was much tougher and resilient than GGG and could switch stances at will. His stamina was phenomenal.Comment
