Comments Thread For: Jacobs Misses IBF's Second-Day Weigh-In for Golovkin Fight

NEW YORK Size might matter after all in the Gennady Golovkin-Daniel Jacobs fight.
Jacobs skipped the IBF's second-day weigh-in Saturday morning for their middleweight title fight Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. In accordance with IBF rules, neither fighter could weigh more than 10 pounds over the 160-pound limit at its second-day weigh-in at 9 a.m. ET Friday.
Golovkin weighed 169.6 pounds on Saturday morning. By failing to appear at the IBF's second-day weigh-in, Jacobs forfeited his right to fight for Golovkin's IBF title in this HBO Pay-Per-View main event (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT; $64.95 in HD).
Their scheduled 12-round fight will proceed, though only Golovkin's WBA and WBC titles will be on the line.

Probably Jacobs wants to hit hard on GGG's head since the beginning. It remains to be seen if GGG is willing to let him do that.

I don't blame him. If he wins, he's the man anyways no matter what the IBF says.

Probably figured he didn't want the extra stress of a second weigh in, just wanted to feel strong and comfortable and big in the ring.

The IBF are probably the best sanctioning body for adhering to rules and not clogging up divisions with meaningless belts.

Does the IBF have a super, silver or interim championship? No

Do they always enforce their mandatories? Yes

Do you know **** about boxing? evidently Not..

Hes coming in big to increase his chin and power, sacrificing a belt to win.

****** post. Whether you think it's a big deal or not is up to you but no one should advocate for rule breaking. I feel the same as I did last week, I don't think it makes him a cheat like some people in here but I don't think it was very professional either and don't think he should have done it.
