One of the writers referred to pac as an 8 division champ which bread agreed with. I always wondered why this isn't challenged more. His title at 140 was vs Hatton for the ibo belt. That's not really a credible organization that should count as an actual world championship. Then the wbc being crooked as they're known to be, somehow found it justifiable to make pacs fight vs Margarito for a vacant 154 pound title at 150 when neither fighter was even ranked in that division. Margarito was coming off a suspension for cheating and only fought 1 d level fighter before somehow being eligible along with pac to fight for a belt. 6 division champion is a great enough accomplishment but saying g he's an 8 division champ is somewhat deceptive.

But here is the enigma. Being inactive stagnates your skill level. You don’t get better at something by not doing it. I have this conversation weekly with boxing scribes. The inactivity of this era is killing it, literally. It’s almost impossible to put together a HOF resume if you turned pro within the last 10 years because of the inactivity and avoidance climate.
100%. Fighters don't want to fight more than a few times a year and expect to be stars when they do. This is why I'm not convinced fighters like Canelo and Thurman have developed much over the past 3 years.

I agree with you, but at the same time to me it wouldn't matter if it was the WBO or WBA belts either.

Often guys like Pac or Broner jump into a new division they hand them a title shot vs someone soft. Broner moved up to 147, beat Paulie for the WBA and is considered a WW champion. Meh.

The reality is that belts/titles are just marketing tools. They don't always signify a fighter as a top fighter in that division.

there's gonna be a lot of SMT's on here tomorrow.

Thurman needs to change his moniker, "One Time" doesn't fit. he beat Danny with footwork and pot shots.

Jacobs best chance to win is round one. catch GGG cold, hit him with the wrath of god. if not I expect GGG to fold him in round six.

boxers nowadays don't need 200 fights. them getting paid more is a good thing since boxing is brutal. Sugar Ray Robinson is the GOAT, true. but he ended his life broke with Alzheimer's.

Yeah you're right. Belts have become marketing tools and the fact that someone like broner is considered a former world champion at 147 is laughable, if you actually know boxing.

Doesn't the same apply to Pac's 140 and 154 titles doe?

I think Canelo has developed really well compared to the current crop of top fighters. His defence is tightening up and he picks his shots much better.

The only thing I'd say is he's never learned from or worked on since the mayweather fight is using his physicality over smaller fighters, like the Khan fight. He had no plan B but wait for the big shot to come.

Thurman has def slumped with development, changing his game to become more tentative. Basically figured the W is better than the finish, which is a huge shame.
